Online Jobs for College Students to Make Extra Money

Sell Your Photos

If you take a lot of photos and some of them are pretty good then you can actually sell them to others who could use those photos. You won’t make a killing on this unless you have hundreds of amazing photos, but you can absolutely make a decent amount of chunk change depending on your photography skills.

Many sites need good photos for many different reasons. Some of them may be for a presentation they may need to make and a lot of them are from blogs like this one. Everyone likes to use a photo with just about every blog post they make. It’s illegal to use photos that you do not have the rights to. So that is why people pay good money for photos.

The best way to make money is by providing a variety of different kinds of photos like the following.

  1. Photos of animals
  2. Photos of objects ( pencil, iPad, iPhone, screw driver, etc)
  3. Photos of cities
  4. Photos of different work stations
  5. Photos of people
  6. Photos of anything travel related
  7. Close-up photos
  8. Photos of nature

One of the highest paying sites right now is actually an app. It’s called Foap. They sell every photo for $10 and you get half of that to yourself. So $5 overtime someone buys rights to that picture and you can sell it over and over again.

Here is a list of some other sites where you can get paid to sell your photos. They may not pay out no where near as much money, but it may be worth it in the long run to be a member of as many as possible.

  • iStock Photo – iStock Photo offers 15% commission or 45% if you are an exclusive member.
  • Alamy – They pay out pretty high here to at 60% commission
  • Dreamstime – They payout at 25-50% for regular members and 60% exclusive members.
  • Shutter stock – You can get anywhere from $.25-$28 depending on the image that sells.
  • Can Stock Photo – These guys also payout well but I couldn’t find the exact number.
  • 123RRF – The omission here is based on your membership level
  • PhotoShelter – Another great site but I couldn’t find the payout.
  • Fotolia – They payout 20-65% commission
  • SmugMug – Another amazing site that pays well.
  • StockExpert – I could not find the payout on this website either.
  • BigStockPhoto – Same thing on this one.
  • Fiverr – This site is often overlooked. You could sell the same photo over and over for $5.

Online Tutoring

Seeing as how you are in college I would say there is a 50/50 chance that you are good in certain areas of school work. If that is the case then online tutoring jobs may be for you. I would say you already know if teaching someone else is something you enjoy or not. If so this a great way to make some extra money. If not then you can either do it anyways and push through it to make some money, or you can move on to the next job opportunity we have listed below this one.

One of the best and quickest ways to get paid as a tutor is to ask around at your school. Do you know someone who may need tutored for a certain or exam they are going to be taken? Many people would easily be willing pay $20-$30/hr to have a tutor make sure they can score higher on those exams. If I were looking to go this route the very first thing I would do is post on Facebook and ask people to like and share your post. Then go to your local “Cityname BUY SELL TRADE” group and post there as well. You may be surprised how many hits you will get.

If you are looking to go the more professional route and work as an independent contractor online you can check out the following companies.

  • – They require that you have passed your second year in college to tutor.
  • Kaplan – If you excel in a certain area this could be a great place. You would have to score in the 90th percentile on the test that you would be applying to tutor for.
  • Homework Tutoring – Another great site to tutor people.
  • – This is a site that has really taken off. Create your own class to teach people and charge whatever you want for them to take it.

Virtual Assistant

This is another option for you as a college kid. Believe it or not. There are many businesses out there who would love to hire you as a virtual assistant. The fact is many people who have online businesses actually have multiple businesses and hardly have time to run blog let a lone two or three. So if you could find someone who needs help running a blog you could be in there.

Depending on who you work for you could make anywhere from minimum wage clear up to $20+/hr helping people get blog posts written, posted, etc. You may go to some local businesses and even see if they have a blog on their website. If not then maybe you can pitch it to them. Tell them you could set it up for them and even post new articles for them on a weekly basis. Come up with a schedule and how much you would charge. Make sure to let them know the importance of a blog and fresh content and how much extra traffic it will bring to their website. Now just image if you were charging this person $200/mo for this service. Then imagine if you had 10 of those kinds of clients. Now you are at $2,000/mo.

As you can see the potential here is great in your local market alone. You can also find these kinds of clients online as well from people you don’t know and are not local. There are also many others type of virtual assistant jobs too. That was just one example of what I would do if it were me. Data Entry

There are many companies out there who need people who can type well. This could be anything from filling in captchas to listening to audio and video clips and then translating those into words. However, you must be an avid typer of at least around 40+ words a minute.

This is not the type of job where you can make anywhere near a full time income. However, if you are a fast typer then this may not be a bad option to add a few more dollars to your bank account each month. I am not going to go into extreme detail with this one on this post because we have already covered it. Click on the following link to see our article on The Top Data Entry Jobs and How to Get Them.

This is a great list that we have created here. It is very current and up to date of course. If you want to you can check out the full list of work at home jobs here.
